  2. James Shewmaker says:

This cartoon is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of what the book of Jonah says about Jonah being swallowed by the “Great Fish.”

The purpose of the “Great Fish” was to save Jonah from drowning. The second chapter of Jonah is a song of GRATITUDE due to having been swallowed by the “Great Fish” and thus delivered from death. Jonah did not consider being swallowed by the fish to be a bad thing but rather a good thing.
