Subscriber Alert

Some subscribers to Biblical Archaeology Review (BAR) have received renewal notifications and subscription offers from organizations other than the Biblical Archaeology Society. The rates offered by these organizations are higher than our subscription price. They also charge a service/handling fee. Please do not contact these organizations.

Companies that we have been informed about include: Readers Payment Service, Publishers Billing Exchange, Inc, Subscription Renewal Services, Circulation Billing Services, Inc., Publishers Services Exchange, Associated Publishers Subscription Services, United Publishers Network, Global Publication Services, Platinum Publishing Service, Magazine Billing Services, Magazine Payment Services, Publishers Processing Services and Orbital Publishing Group, Inc.

These organizations are not authorized representatives of the Biblical Archaeology Society or of Biblical Archaeology Review. Your renewal notification, expiration note, or subscription offer to BAR will come from the Biblical Archaeology Society.

Some of these entities, especially Readers Payment Service, are sending false notifications that your subscription to BAR is unable to commence or to continue, along with a statement of credit. There is no truth to these notes whatsoever.

Please do not respond to any correspondence from these organizations. Forward it, instead, to Subscriptions, 4710 41st St., NW, Washington, DC 20016.

Thank you for your assistance.

You make it difficult for people to renew their subscriptions. A simple ‘renew here’ click on would suffice. I can’t find it anywhere on your site.

lol, that’s exactly what I am trying to do right now, and no renewal button in sight. C’mon BAR, get this functionality added to your website so we can renew here quickly and securely. Thanks.

I got one marked: Billing Dept: P.O. box 37828, Boone, IA 50037-0828, can I use it to renew my subscription and if not, how?

I have received a renewal notice from BAR the return address being P.O. Box 37831, Boone, IA 50037-0831. I cannot find this address anywhere on your site. Is it legit???

    1. Jonathan Laden says:

It is legit. This P.O. Box is listed on the masthead of the magazine.

  5. Kathryn M. Fairbanks says:

I did receive a subscription renewal offer to BAR a few months back, but I immediately recognized it as coming from the same deceitful company that I had dealt with several years before.

At that time I had been alerted by Catholic Digest. That publication printed an ALERT box on a page in some of the issues, and even listed the various company names that would appear on the mail-outs one might receive. Sure enough, I had already received one, and later more, but preferred to subscribe directly to the magazine.

When more solicitations arrived later on, for a variety of my other periodicals, I took the mail-out to the Post Office and explained the possible scam going on. The clerks appeared interested, but I never heard anything more. No more arrived for at least three or four years. But within the last few months I got one for BAR.

Please keep running that ALERT message in every issue. Good luck!

I’m finding it difficult to read my address label to find out when my subscription will end. If you want to look it up and let me know — email is OK — here’s my mailing address:

Kathryn M. Fairbanks 145 Aldrich Street Roslindale MA 02131 (Or it may say Boston MA 021131.)

Please keep running that ALERT message in every issue. Good luck!

    Kathryn M. Fairbanks

Thanks for the info. I got one of those and thought it looked suspicious, so just deleted it.
