Israel Inaugurates “Gospel Trail”

Israel’s Ministry of Tourism this week inaugurated the new “Gospel Trail,” a 40-mile-long route that will allow Christian tourists and pilgrims to follow Jesus’ trek from his hometown of Nazareth to Capernaum, where he focused much of his mission in the Galilee (Mark 6–9). The route, which passes through such important Christian holy sites as Cana, the Mount of Beatitudes, Magdala and Tabgha, can be traveled by car, bicycle or on foot. Israel’s tourism ministry hopes the trail will significantly increase Christian tourism to the Galilee region. “It is a real honor to invite the entire Christian world to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and to walk in the same places where he walked,” said Minister of Tourism Stas Misezhnikov.
