“Time Capsule” Cave Discovered in Israel
Cave inhabited 400,000 years ago illuminates prehistory

Archaeologists have uncovered a prehistoric cave in Fureidis, Israel (south of Haifa), dating between 400,000 and 250,000 years ago. The archaeologists describe the cave as a “time capsule” because it remained largely undisturbed for hundreds of thousands of years.
The cave has generated much excitement because it dates to a period that archaeologists know relatively little about. The cave was used during the end of the Lower Paleolithic—or Old Stone Age—long before agriculture, cities, kingdoms, or writing. People lived by hunting animals, gathering edible plants, and using stone tools to butcher game, work wood, and process hides.
Discoveries from this period are relatively rare, especially from sites that have remained undisturbed as long as this one has. The artifacts remain where prehistoric people originally left them, allowing researchers to reconstruct daily life with unusual precision.

The cave belonged to what archaeologists call the Acheulo-Yabrudian culture. The word “culture” here can be confusing because it does not refer to a civilization or ethnic group. Instead, it is an archaeological label for sites that share similar kinds of technologies and patterns of daily life. Since prehistoric peoples left no written records to identify themselves, archaeologists begin classifying them by the objects they made and used. The Acheulo-Yabrudian culture is identified through the stone tools found across sites in the Levant, including handaxes, scrapers, and blades. These objects allow archaeologists to group sites into a shared technological tradition, which is then dated using geological and radiometric methods.
The cave’s remarkable preservation makes it particularly valuable. Excavators uncovered flint tools alongside the bones of animals such as gazelles, deer, and horses, as well as evidence that water was available nearby. These discoveries suggest the cave served as an attractive location for prehistoric hunter-gatherers to camp and return to over time. As researchers continue excavating, they hope to determine how long people stayed there and whether the tools and bones may reflect longer occupations of campsites and more complex social interactions.
The researchers also describe the Acheulo-Yabrudian culture as existing in an important transitional period in prehistory. In this time, people produced increasingly sophisticated stone tools, made more regular use of caves, and left growing evidence for the controlled use of fire. Archaeologist Ron Shimelmitz of the University of Haifa said: “This time capsule belongs to a unique period at the end of the Lower Paleolithic era, just before Neanderthals and modern humans became dominant and spread across many regions. Only a handful of sites from this important phase have been uncovered in Israel and the wider Levant, and most of them are inaccessible for research.”
So few well-preserved sites survive from this chapter of prehistory that each new discovery helps fill a gap in our understanding. If the Fureidis cave continues to yield intact evidence of everyday life, it could become one of our most important windows onto how prehistoric hunter-gatherers lived hundreds of thousands of years before the rise of farming and civilization.

By saying that these people predated farming and agriculture, you are saying that they were here before Cain and Able who farmed and raised animals. Where were thy when Adam was created by God, and what role do they play in the Biblical narrative?
This will be interesting to see how this new information will be handled by what we already know about Cain and Able.

Speaking of Adam + Eve what happened to her,where is her grave where is Eden is it possibly can be found with the imaging the all of the dessert in and out of Jerusalem, Nazareth,etc.
If you go with the bible you have some events that could have effects that we don’t know how to evaluate
IMO, I think our own Biblical timelines are inaccurate. Not the events, just the timeframe in which they happened. We are still learning about those cultures in 2026, and how they were in essence, more modernized than us with all of our fancy tech, machinery, and knowledge. For example, Adam and Ever were in communion with God himself. They had no sense of time or awareness until after eating the apple. Secondly, the pyramids weren’t built with electric cranes.
The Bible doesn’t say what kind of fruit Eve ate. So we’re did you get apple from?
The Adam/Eve narrative has no physical reality and consequently no temporal reality, but it is important spiritual reality. Two important points are: God has rules and disobedience to God has extremely negative results. Second, God granted humanity free will; human character usually chooses disobedience.

You do realize that by stating that Adam and Eve weren’t real you also cancel Jesus Christ? Jesus stated he was the “last Adam”. So if Jesus lied nothing in the bible is true.
Pssht, while free will is obviously real, people, both religious and atheistic, act like it’s the main factor that decides a humans outcome. What a joke. If that were true, we wouldn’t see children far more likely becoming as their parents are- worldly, atheistic, secular parents usually have the same kind of kids, and very conservative, Christian, spiritual parents usually have the same kind of kids. So OBVIOUSLY free will isn’t even half of the equation. If it was people wouldn’t be over 50% likely to become part of the same group/culture as their parents.
I don’t know what could be any more physical than the creation that we can still relate to today. Adam and Eve, both physical and spiritual, as God made them, we can identify with. Living souls with choices to make that they, and we, will be held accountable to.

Oh dear, Ann KC, you need to calm down and get off your high horse and check your ‘facts’. Firstly, there is no scientific evidence that humans have existed for millions of years. Secondly, whatever people were living in caves near modern Haifa a quarter of a million years ago, they most definitely were NOT Palestinian, Canaanite, Jewish, Arabic, nor did they belong to any other modern ethnic classification. All we can say as to who they were is that they were early humans who managed to survive against the odds. Furthermore, they were NOT, descendants of Adam and Eve or any other fictitious individuals invented in order to convince religious believers of the need to reject the scientific evidence of evolution in favour of a purely mythical explanation of how human beings came into existence.
As for talk of Sodom, idol-worship, moral depravity, and failure to observe the top ten Hebrew mitzvot. Come on, Ann, why must you use religion as an explanation of current day world events? The truth is that a huge amount of the problems that face the modern world are actually the result of religion, religious extremism, religious intolerance, and the inability of religious followers to think rationally, logically or (most ironicallly) morally.
