Mexico City Builds World’s Largest Nativity Scene

Bible and archaeology news

Officials in Mexico City this week unveiled the world’s largest nativity scene, a sprawling 215,000-square-foot display that recreates dozens of Biblical passages related to the story of Jesus’ birth. The $2-million nativity scene, certified by Guinness Records as the world’s largest, takes up the parking lot of Mexico City’s giant Azteca stadium and is larger than four football fields. The scene includes life-size recreations of scores of Biblical-era dwellings and structures, as well as thousands of human, animal and angelic figures that allow visitors to visualize the Biblical story. A team of engineers, architects and historians worked on the display for more than two months.
