Bible and archaeology news
This week, the Israel Museum, in collaboration with Google, launched a new Web site that allows visitors to view and search high-resolution images of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The Dead Sea Scrolls Digital Project, announced in Biblical Archaeology Review earlier this year,* aims to put a searchable, interactive digital archive of the entire scroll collection online. Currently, the Web site includes digital versions of five of the longest and most complete scrolls: the Great Isaiah Scroll, the Community Rule Scroll, the Habakkuk pesher (or commentary), the Temple Scroll and the War Scroll. In addition, the Isaiah Scroll can be searched by column, chapter and verse, with English translations of particular sections available with the click of a mouse. To view the scrolls, go to http://dss.collections.imj.org.il/.
